AIFD's 10 week pattern making short course has been designed to give students the skills to create patterns to a range of different styles to their own body measurements/fit. Students will learn how to create a 'block pattern' to their own measurements from a standard block size pattern.
Students are required to have sewing ability prior to commencing this course (as sewing techniques and construction is not taught in this course) for students who have not sewn before it is recommended that they complete at least one term of sewing classes prior to undertaking the pattern making short course. Students will be required to toile the block patterns (in their own time), to check the fit and make adjustments to the patterns as required in class.

- Adjusting block patterns to individual size.
- Skirt Block
- A-Line Skirt
- Panel Line Skirt
- Gored Skirt
- Yoked Skirt
- Circular Skirt
- Pleated Skirt
- High Waisted Skirt
- Shirt Block
- Various Collar styles
- Various Sleeve styles
- Princess Line Top
- Empire Line Top
- Square blocking - gathered skirt/top
- Dress Block
- Pant Block
- Basic Stretch T-Shirt Block
Students will receive:
- Basic notes on class exercises
- Cardboard copies of skirt, shirt, dress and pant blocks for their size.
- Use of paper for in class activities.
Students will require the following equipment:
- Sharp pencils (or pacer pencils + leads)
- Tape measure
- Grading ruler – optional
- Tracing wheel
- Roll of Cardboard - optional
- Notepad and pen
- Sharp Paper Scissors
- Access to a sewing machine
- Calico (or fabric of your choice) to toile block patterns to check fit.
Price:
$850.00. $200 Non-refundable course deposit required to enrol. Balance due on course commencement. (5 week payment plans available on request - $25 admin fee applies).
Course Duration:
15 lessons X 3 hrs. (total 45 hours) Over 10 weeks. (5 days will be from 9.30 - 12.30 and 5 days will be from 9.30am - 3pm).
