Fashion Design & Pattern Making Course

Next Start Date: TBA

This is a great follow-on course for those that have completed the 'Fast Track Fashion Design' course, although it is not a requirement.

Student's will learn basic pattern making techniques and then develop a pattern for a garment of their own design.

The students will present their design ideas to the teacher so that they can discuss the design with the student. You will then learn how to draw a trade drawing of your garment design.

Time will be spent discussing the student's designs with the class and refining the design details so that the design is suitable to be made in class (i.e. not too advanced or complicated for beginners).

This is an excellent course if you are looking to start your own fashion label and would like to get some of your design's off the ground, while learning pattern making at the same time!

Fashion Design Drawing

On your first day of class, you will bring in some rough sketches of your design ideas. You will learn the basic principles of drawing trade drawings for your designs - learning how to correctly draw garment details so that they can be communicated to pattern makers, manufacturers and other production personell.

The teacher will work with the students on developing their design idea so it is ready for the next stage in the design process - pattern making.

Pattern Making

The first few days will be spent covering the basic pattern making principles. Student's will make some basic pattern styles to learn essential pattern making techniques.

The students will start work on their own pattern with the teacher's guidance and step-by-step instruction, demonstrating the process of making each pattern to the class so that all students will benefit.
