This is a great follow-on course for those that have completed the 'Fast Track Fashion Design Course' or the Beginner Sewing Lessons. This is an excellent course if you are looking to start your own fashion label and would like to get some of your design's off the ground, while learning essential pattern making skills at the same time!

In the first few days of the course you will learn basic pattern making techniques and will make some basic pattern styles to learn essential pattern making principles. Then in your design class you will bring in some rough sketches of your design ideas to present to the teacher who will work with you on selecting and refining your design to take through the design process (so that the design is suitable to be made in class - i.e. not to complicated for your skill level).

You will learn how to draw a trade drawing of your garment design learning how to correctly draw garment details so that they can be communicated to pattern makers, manufacturers and other production personell. You will then make the pattern for your selected design and in your final classes you will work on making your design with the assistance of your teacher in a sewing workshop environment.

By the end of the course you will have taken their design idea from a rough sketch through to a trade drawing, pattern and ending up with a finished garment, having learnt basic fashion drawing and pattern making principles along the way.

Course Prerequisites

You do not require any previous pattern making experience in order to complete this course, but basic sewing skills are required. If you have not sewn before, please start with the 'Fast Track Fashion Design Course' or the 'Sewing Lessons' first.
